October is always an exciting month. As the weather begins to change, so do the children here. It is amazing how quickly the children grow at our preschool. We’re so proud to make such a positive impact on the children in Fort Collins!
We taught the children about colors and what the effect of mixing two colors has. The kids especially loved using the color paddles where they could investigate what new colors could be made with an orange and red paddle. We also made a craft by melting crayons on a hotplate.
Fire prevention week was the week of October 8th. The kids learned about fire safety and prevention as well as made fire trucks out of shapes. Needless to say, some of the fire trucks were quite interesting and most certainly creative!
To celebrate fall, we did a scarecrow craft as well as created a leaf using wax paper and melted crayons. The field trip to the pumpkin patch was a huge success! This year we were blessed with great weather. The children enjoyed picking out pumpkins — some bigger than their heads — seeing the animals on the farm, as well as the hay ride.
Pastors Leta and Michael both did chapel this month. Pastor Leta is working with the children to learn the Lord’s Prayer.
Next month we will be working on shape recognition, math, symmetry, small motor skills, cutting skills, letter and sound recognition, and body movement. Keep in mind, this month brings Thanksgiving break. There will be no school November 21st through November 23rd.
